At the truth of the Cross
My soul does weep!

The suffering of your tired and bruised body
How you were mocked and scourged
The weight of the cross on your shoulders
The penetration of the crown of thrones
The iron spikes and nails,
that held you suspended and bleeding
My soul does weep!

The pain in your soul that forced your blood to sweat
and required angels to strengthen you
The darkness and loneness of your soul
That made you cry, “My God, My God
Why hast Thou forsaken me”
And your final words, “It is finished”
My soul does weep!

The Cross was the end for You, the beginning for me
Your Cross set me free from my sins
and rescued and transformed me
Giving me a new life, a new hope
After confession, a new peace in my mind and heart
What a price your love had to pay for me
My soul does weep!

No longer captive to my sins,
your redeeming grace gave me a new walk
I am a new disciple of the living God
Free to follow, obey and serve my Savior
I adore my loving Redeemer,
upon whom my sins were laid
My soul does weep!
